Passion

If you like erotic art you may be interested to know that FenVAC member, Ric Savage, is exhibiting some of his work at Passion at Earls Court, London this weekend, 24th/25th May. For more information about the show go to the website here. Please be aware that Passion is an adult show.

Church Art Day

Just a reminder about this weekend's church Art Day on Sunday, 25th May at St Michael's church, Longstanton from 11am to 4pm. Please note the later start time of 11am. The church is 7m NW of Cambridge (E of A14) off B1050. You can see a map here or the OS map reference is TL 403 658. St Michael's is a thatched church and there are some great pictures of it here if you'd like a preview! Please do come along for as long or short a time as you'd like to and bring a picnic too! The weather forecast for Sunday isn't brilliant but the church interior has lots of interest and plenty of room so it may mean indoor picnics but nevertheless I'm sure it will still be a great day! Just a reminder that there is no heating in the church and there are no toilet facilities available.

Church Art Day

The weather last Sunday was fabulous for the second Church Art Day and, although only a few members came along, we all had a great time! The church is very picturesque and especially so at this time of year being surrounded by cow parsley. There are lots of great views to paint/sketch/photograph along with some excellent textures and colours. Here, courtesy of Rob, are some photos of the day, first some exterior shots of the church:

And some members hard at work:

Eleanor busy sketching a headstone.

Marian sketching in the chancel.

Michael painting in the churchyard.

Carol and Marian discussing which angle to paint!

And, lastly, some of the gorgeous colours and textures to be found at the church:

It was a superb day out and I would encourage everyone to consider coming along to the next one at St Michael's church, Longstanton next weekend.

Church Art Days and Wisbech Rose Fair

After the success of the last Church Art Day, three more have been arranged. ;o)

The first will be at St Mary's, Islington on Sunday, 11th May from 10am until 4pm. St Mary's is 3 miles SW of Kings Lynn, just off the A47. You can see a map here or the OS map reference is TF 571 169. St Mary's is a partially ruined church.

The second will be at St Michael's, Longstanton on Sunday, 25th May from 11am until 4pm. St Michael's is 7m NW of Cambridge (E of A14) off the B1050. You can see a map here or the OS map reference is TL 403 658. St Michael's is a small village church with a double bell cote and a thatched roof.

The third will be at the Guyhirn Chapel of Ease on Sunday, 8th June from 10am until 4pm. The Chapel is 4m SW of Wisbech off the A47. You can see a map here or the OS map reference is TF 403 040. The Chapel was built in 1660 and is simple and austere in design.

All the churches have parking facilities but once again there are NO toilet facilities or heating in the buildings!

Everyone is welcome to come along for part or all of the days and please do feel free to bring a picnic too if you'd like to. There is no charge for any of these events but donations can be made to The Churches Conservation Trust, who maintain all the buildings, at the individual churches. I think everyone who came aong to the first event would agree that we had a great time so do come along and join the fun!

We are still looking for volunteers to paint or sketch at the Wisbech Rose Fair from Wednesday, 2nd to Saturday, 5th July. If you could spare some time, even if just an hour or two, please do email Rob Morris. This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of FenVAC as well as to meet people and display some artwork. Please do try and support this event if you can.
