FenVAC member, Fiona Dodwell, is holding some printmaking workshops in Whittlesey over several forthcoming weekends. Here are all the details from Fiona:
I am holding Japanese woodblock printmaking workshops at my home in Whittlesey with professional woodblock printmaker and printmaking teacher Jude Lockie. Her work can be viewed at
http://www.judithlockie.co.uk/. I have been on courses with her at Suffolk College and Gainsborough's House and can vouch for them being fun and inspiring. Woodblock printmaking is something that you do not need any special equipment for and it can be done on the kitchen table. It is highly portable as you do not need a press. Inks are water-based so easy to use (and wash off). A simple and effective way of making and reproducing your own art.
The workshops are run on a non-profit-making basis (any excess arising goes to providing free places or is donated to Amnesty International) and cost £60 per person for two full weekend days. Tools and inks are brought by Jude for use by participants, and inexpensive woodblocks and paper are sold at cost price. Everyone brings food to share at lunchtime; tea coffee, biccies and hot soup / rolls are provided.
