The Gables Open Studios

After the success of the Christmas Open Studios event at the weekend the artists who exhibited at The Gables venue in Chatteris have decided to leave their displays up until Christmas.  Organiser, Helen Free, invites any other interested FenVAC artists to join them and add their work to the exhibition.  All work must be individually priced and labelled as staff  at The Gables will be dealing with sales.  There is a 10% commission rate on sales which will go towards the resident's entertainment fund.  If you'd like to participate please contact Helen direct on activitiesatthegables@gmail.com.

Exhibiting Opportunity

Skylark Cafe have agreed to display artwork from members of Fenvac on a continual basis with the work being changed (unless sold) every 3 months or so. There are spaces for about 12 pieces at the moment and the owners would like work suitable for the rural atmosphere of the cafe/garden centre/farm area. I would therefore suggest work depicting rural landscape scenes, plants and flowers etc.


As with all opportunities of this type it is the responsibility of the artist to arrange any insurance for the work that they wish. Fenvac insurance only covers 3rd party public liability and neither Fenvac nor Skylark will accept responsibility for any loss or damage to the work.

There is no commission to be paid on any sales and no hanging fees. It is advisable as this is a cafe area that all work be behind glass and must be properly strung for hanging. Clip frames are not acceptable.

The first hanging will be made in about a week so anyone wishing to take part should email me at robertwmorris@btopenworld.com with details and sizes of the artwork as soon as possible. The spaces will be shared out between those that reply by Friday 13 November.

Forthcoming Events

We have two forthcoming art days that all members and their families are invited to:

On Saturday, 7th November we are having an art day at Meeks Cemetery, New Road, Chatteris from 11am til 2pm.  Come along to this lovely cemetery with abundant wildlife to draw, paint, photograph etc.  Everyone welcome for as little or as long a time as you prefer.  Depending on weather, warm clothes and hot drinks advisable!  ;o)  The nearest postcode to the cemetery, for those of you who don't know Chatteris, is PE16 6EX. 

As a little respite from the festive celebrations our chair, Rob Morris, is hosting an art day at his studio at Allens Yard, Chatteris, PE16 6LQ on Tuesday, 29th December from 11am onwards.  Come along and do/show some art or just to chat, eat and socialise!  ;o)  Please bring along some food to contribute.  Everyone welcome!
